Sound Pixelization

2024

This work emerged from an attempt to transform sound —aninherently invisible form of information— into visual art.The printed “images” of sound were then finely cut and woventogether like threads, reconstructing fragments of audio into newvisual structures.Like overlapping urban noise and fragmented dialogue generatingan imagined melody in visual form, these works aim to blurthe boundary between seeing and hearing, while granting newsensory value to data as material.

All forms of data we encounter in our daily lives share similar structuresof code and can often be converted from one type to another; sound canbecome image, and image can become sound. Focusing on this plasticity ofinformation, I used everyday recordings of ambient noise and conversations asraw material, extracting visual representations from the audio data.
